Dr. Louis & Dr. Belinda's new peer-reviewed paper on the underlying mechanisms of Scalp Acupuncture was published in [Frontiers in Neuroscience]!

On August 15, we were notified that our collaborative 6-month-long peer-reviewed research article titled ¨Neural control of cerebral blood flow: scientific basis of scalp acupuncture in treating brain diseases¨, along with first author senior acupuncturist (Professor. Guan-Yuan Jin, Medical Director / Expert Consultant of the Woodlands Acupuncture) and several other medical professionals, were officially published. Frontiers in Neuroscience is a leading SCI-indexed peer-reviewed journal in Neuroscience, publishing rigorously peer-reviewed research across a wide spectrum of specialties and disciplines.
This multidisciplinary open-access journal is at the forefront of disseminating and communicating scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries to researchers, academics, clinicians and the public worldwide, providing a holistic understanding of brain function from genes to behavior, and an integral part of the most cited neuroscience journal series which explores the brain - from the new eras of causation and anatomical neurosciences to neuroeconomics and neuroenergetics.

Figure 1 shows the core SA points or areas frequently used for brain diseases, with the distribution of scalp nerves referenced in Khansa et al. (2016). Because acupoint is an area instead of a spot (Jin et al., 2007), in this figure, solid blue dots represent acupoints, while red bands represent the connecting areas between them or those of the international standard scalp acupuncture (ISSA) system (WHO Scientific Group, 1991); five particular SA regions are remarked by circled Arabic numbers.
